Črna Šagra (Black Šagra) is a metal music festival that strives to present the metal subculture to anyone who is willing to listen.
A “šagra” is, traditionally, a festivity held in villages. People gather on a dance while an ensemble performs local music. They take place every summer on the name day of the local church’s patron saint. In the villages of Pobegi and Čežarji it is scheduled on the third weekend of August.
However, since 2017, there is a different event happening the day before the traditional šagra. When the Cultural Society Pobegi – Čežarji kindly asked us if we could organize an event for the youth, we had a really strange idea. A metal šagra … Črna Šagra.
Črna Šagra preserves and deeply respects the traditions of old – the only thing in which it differs is the music. Instead of an ensemble, folk music and dances, on that day a different … louder type of music is performed.
Most of our collective grew up with metal music – a genre that under its loud facade hides an omnipresent collective spirit and the openness towards everyone, who would like to be part of it. Given that we strive towards preserving both, the old customs and the metal subculture, we have decided to join the opposites. Join what is black and what is colorful into a single entity – an event that welcomes everyone who is willing to listen to the sound of unconventionality.

Letošnja Črna Šagra me je znova zvabila čez pol Slovenije, v glavnem zato, ker je bila lanska več kot odlična. Letos mi nabor nastopajočih na prvo žogo mogoče res ni bil najbolj pisan na kožo, ampak so vse tri zasedbe pozitivno presenetile in navdušile, vsaka na svoj način. Vedno je tudi lepo videti, da (poleg občine) tudi lokalna skupnost podpira alternativne dogodke, saj so v srečelovu poleg vstopnic za nekaj prihajajočih koncertov pod taktirko Nemesis Booking, Dirty Skunks in ekipe Bunkerfesta bila med nagradami znova lokalni sir in kraški pršut. Črna Šagra je tudi odlična priložnost, da srečaš cel kup poznanih obrazov, ki jih iz takšnih ali drugačnih razlogov z leti videvaš vse manj. Zato pa drži kot pribito, da na mladih svet stoji; če ob tem še čim širšemu krogu ljudi približajo kakšen lokalni običaj in poskrbijo za super organiziran poletni koncert na prostem (letos so organizirali še zastonj avtobus iz Kopra do prizorišča in nazaj), pa mi z jezika (ali prstov) ne pade niti ena žal beseda. Aljaž in David z ekipo, hvala za nadvse prijeten večer in upam, da se tudi Črna Šagra razvije v tradicijo.
